They died because a Britannian Air Cruiser Captain refused to protect the civilians as ordered just to keep his ship safe from harms way. Aldan eventually became a Air Cruiser Captain, with his beliefs intact. However, in stimulation scenarios, his crew and subordinates refused to cooperate with his selfless drive and he was looked down upon badly by his peers in the regular military. A few years later, his record was viewed by the VSD while they were looking for a XO for the new personal flagship 'Nightingale'. He was one of the final candidates for the position and received the position due to his commitment and loyalty to the mission and his ship.
